LEARNING OUTCOME 2

The integration of my sources has always been a big part of the ways in which I have written all of my essays. I enjoy being able to converse in a way that you don’t really get the opportunity to quite often and being able to put together someone else’s own ideas. I get to explain them so that not only your reader can understand the ideas but that you yourself can contextualize them as well, and being able to bring them into conversation with your own ideas of another source’s ideas. I have showcased my ability to properly integrate my ideas in relation to other sources best in Project #2, and I not only had to add my own voice, but I had to speak for two different sources at the same time. Through the use of the Barclay Paragraph, I was able to put two sources’ ideas together, throughly explain them, and then add in with what I believe about their ideas. I show this trait most in the third body paragraph of my essay, where I quote the two sources in relation to how technology has forced humans to evolve through time. I am able to explain both Turkle and Carr’s quotes within this paragraph in a way that sets me up to be able to add myself into the conversation and to allow the reader to feel as though they are a part of it too. Being able to accurately represent a source’s own ideas is integral to being able to properly write an essay, and a good step towards reaching this learning outcome.
