COURSE DESCRIPTION
Digital Video Studio 1 develops fundamental motion-picture production skills, including
directing, cinematography, camera operation, lighting, audio capture, and non-linear editing.
Students will learn how to safely operate camera, audio, and lighting equipment in a dedicated
production studio and on location. Students will become familiar with the roles of departments,
their crew positions, and the equipment associated with each department. Students will be
involved in narrative, commercial, broadcast/streaming, and documentary projects, rotating
through the different crew positions required for each style of production.
MY COURSE DESCRIPTION
DV studio 1 is an introductory level class into the world of filming. It teaches students how a camera works, as well as focuses on audio, lighting, and colors. Students will learn the fundamentals of film, how they are produced, and the processes to get to the film. You will be given the chance to make your own “amateur” videos, to produce into small films to watch in class. Students will learn to receive and give good feedback for their films, and learn how to use these critiques to better their craft. Anyone interested in an Arts and Humanities course would enjoy this, as it affects every of the majors. Communications for interviews, English majors for the stories a film can tell and the medium of which it tells it, and so on.
